California Chrome's preparation toward the Aug. 20 TVG Pacific Classic (gr. I) continued Aug. 14 with the son ofLucky Pulpit working five furlongs in a bullet 1:00 1/5 at Los Alamitos. Exercise rider Dihigi Gladney was aboard.
"It went according to plan," said trainer Art Sherman. "It was nice—he was just cruising, and I liked the way he came back. He went out early and he was the first one out on the track. That was good; it is supposed to get warm today."
The move, one of only five at the trip, was "just what we were looking for," according to Alan Sherman, son and assistant of trainer Art Sherman. "He worked great; we're happy. I caught him in 1:00 flat.
"He's been a beast," Alan Sherman continued. "He's doing better than he was before the (Dubai) World Cup (UAE-I)."
